testimonials from the people we have treated. post-natal testimonials amy a. august 2017 when i first attended a physio session with ian at back in action, it was around three months after giving birth my movement and mobility was extremely restricted at a time when i needed to be at my most agile. i was miserable and feeling very vulnerable when i arrived for my first treatment following a very public seizing up on the floor of a baby sensory class, the welcome and reassurance i received was excellent, above and beyond anything i'd experienced with any previous treatments. ian took the time to explain to me, what had happened to my body during both the pregnancy and birth process, why it was having the impact it was and crucially, that it was correctable. the relief was overwhelming. through six fortnightly sessions, i was able to build up my strength, regain my spinal flexibility and learn how to respond to any signs my body was giving me. the treatments included massage, exercises, muscle work on a roller and understanding the triggers to my back pain. we worked on practical everyday movements like bending forward over a cradle and picking up a car seat. i would recommend both back in action and ian for both the physical treatments but equally and probably even more importantly, the approach and patient care. emma r june 2017 i was first introduced to ian horsley and back in action in 2004 through my grandmother, who at 80 years of age was being successfully treated by ian for two hairline fractures in her spine, that had prior to her being seen by ian, had been misdiagnosed as "age related arthritis". following a very difficult pregnancy where i was bedridden for over 3 months and a subsequently terrible labour( where i had been advised to not have a c section, as that would cut the only muscles stabilising my pelvis), my pelvis had not aligned itself correctly. i had been in tremendous pain for almost 6 months and was unable to walk properly due to suffering severe symphysis pubis dysfunction (spd). i had seen many physiotherapists but had not seen any improvement and had been told categorically by both doctors and physiotherapists alike, that i would not be able to have more children but should not in any-case as i would very likely end up in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. at my first session, where i was carried into his treatment room, ian diagnosed my symptoms and basically realigned my pelvis ( not the most pleasant sensation) and i started a long-term rehabilitation of my pelvic and core muscles to stabilise my pelvic area. my rehabilitation took several months but when i was signed off i was over the moon. two years later the unthinkable happened and i found myself pregnant with twins when i unexpectedly miscarried one of the babies in the early stages. i was panic stricken as i was terrified of losing the other but also that my pelvis would give way early and i would end up in a wheel chair forever. this time i was treated by ian throughout my pregnancy and afterwards with up -to-the minute technologies and following rehabilitation i was the fittest i have ever been. i introduced ian to the pelvic partnership, an extremely worthwhile charity set up in the south of england for women suffering with the very misunderstood spd. since this time i have revisited ian for periodic check up's and for other injuries caused by my love of martial arts... yes, indeed i am so "rehabilitated" that i lead a very active lifestyle and although i continue to undertake basic core strengthening exercises prescribed by ian they are simply part of my day to day exercises. i have recommended ian to many colleagues, family and friends who all found the treatment he gave to be to the highest standard, including finding a physiotherapist for an acquaintance that could not get to his clinic but desperately needed help after suffering spd until her child was 2 years old!!!
